
Within delegated authority, the Chief of Section is responsible for the following specific duties:
o Provide advice and input to the Chief of Branch on strategies, human rights-based and accountable policies and processes as well as on the planning and preparation of programmes of support to Member States and other relevant support as required for the functioning and management of the Branch and the delivery of its mandate.
o Provide substantive leadership for the conceptualization, planning, implementation, and coordination of terrorism prevention policy, legal, and technical assistance programmes and projects, promoting the implementation of international legal instruments against terrorism, the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly including the UN Global Counter Terrorism Strategy.
o Provide expert advice to governments and institutions in strengthening strategies, policies, cooperation and coordination frameworks, inter-agency cooperation, and capacity building plans to enhance national and regional terrorism prevention in line with international obligations and standards.
o Develop and coordinate programmatic initiatives to facilitate international cooperation related to terrorism prevention through the development of research, analysis, best practices, knowledge sharing, publications, curricula, manuals, and tools for training; lead intra- and inter-agency coordination and cooperation and development of joint programming.
